Shrunk down in size, but not in performance, MediaPress will encode MPEG1 or MPEG2 video in realtime along with stereo audio in PCM or MPEG audio format. MediaPress utilizes the latest MPEG compression technology to achieve realtime compression without the high price of other encoding systems.

In general, the backside caches on XLR8 G3 and G4 upgrades in Beige G3 (and higher) machines are automatically enabled by the hardware, but may be set slightly slower than possible, and may come up with Write-Through on. The exception to this is G4 upgrades in Beige machines, in which the caches are not enabled by the hardware or the OS.

With the XLR8 MACh Speed Control X software installed, the backside cache on all G3s and G4s (in Beige and higher machines) will be enabled at a processor to cache ratio of 2:1 with Write-Through off.

Do not install this software if your ZIF upgrade cannot run its processor speed to cache ratio at 2:1. The software will crash and Mac OS X will fail to launch.
