Use this updater only if you have a TelePort 56 x2 modem. It will have a serial number (on the bottom of the modem) prefix of XA. The updater requires that your previous version of TelePort 56 software is already installed, and it will not install over any other GlobalFax version. This updater makes its Status Bar appearance more like the Finder in Mac OS 8.x, defaults the fax quality setting to your most recent choice, and adds new ARA and Open Transport/PPP scripts.

This updated TelePort control panel fixes a crashing bug found on blue and white G3 machines with both a TelePort V.90 modem and a Keyspan USB Serial Adapter installed. This update should not be downloaded for any reason other than to fix the indicated symptom with a TelePort 56K V.90 on a Keyspan adapter. If you don't see this bug, you do not need to download this update. If you have any other Global Village modem or GlobalFax version on a blue and white G3, this update is not recommended or supported--the newer TelePort control panel may conflict with your existing GlobalFax software.

Version 1.511 of the TelePort Platinum Comm Slot firmware updates the modem to the V.34+ITU standard, enabling connection speeds of up to 33.6 kbps. Please note that connection speeds can vary with telephone line noise and limitations in the capabilities of your local phone company's network.
