This update installs new firmware on PowerBook and Xserve combo drives. The update prevents combo drives from intermittently failing to eject discs. It's recommended that you install this update to ensure that your combo drive avoids this problem.
Your drive may or may not need to have firmware updated; installing and running this update will tell you if updating is required.

The Energy Saver control panel helps you cut down on electricity costs by powering down your Energy Star?compliant monitor. Version 1.1 fixes a problem with the Apple AudioVision 14-inch monitor. This control panel can only be used with PowerPC, Quadra, or Centris Macs.

This update fixes communication problems in which documents fail to print with messages such as "The printer is not responding" or "Sorry, a system error occurred (-23)." This update also improves printing behavior in some low memory situations. If your printer is connected to a Power Macintosh G3 computer using the serial cable, or you experience these problems frequently, you should install the update. If your Color StyleWriter is connected to your computer via a LocalTalk network, you do not need to install the update.

The GeForce Graphics Card Update installs new graphics card firmware and Mac OS 9 system extensions to improve performance and compatibility. The new firmware also fixes a compatibility problem with newer versions of the NVIDIA system extensions.

The firmware on your graphics card will be updated only if an older version is detected. During the firmware update, your display will dim or go dark for 10 to 15 seconds, then reappear.
