These scripts work with Timeport phones, the Accompli, the V66 (using the USB driver below) and apparently work with other Motorola models including some Startacs.
It is possible to use these scripts (and my GPRS ones) with Motorola phones that do not have infrared, or with PowerBooks that don't have infrared. If you have a V66 or some other model that has USB capability, you may have success with a USB cable and a third-party USB driver. Alternatively, you can use a serial cable and a USB-to-serial adapter (see James Sentman's site).
Provided the phone has an internal modem, the script doesn't care if the phone is connected using infrared or a cable.

The Motorola TimePort P280 GSM/GPRS handset includes both IrDA and USB connectivity, but Motorola is not offering support for using this handset on the Mac.
This driver includes a USB driver and two modem scripts to make this handset usable with the Mac for data connections. It adds a selection to the Modem control panel for the handset when it is connected via USB. One modem script handles standard dial-up connections while the other script handles GPRS modem high-speed data connections.
At the moment, the GPRS modem script is hard-coded with values specific to Microcell (FIDO) in Canada. This restriction should be removed in the next release.
