SigmaTels family of Consumer Codecs and DACs provide a full array of options for todays high-performance audio equipment. The STAC9460/62 are six and two-channel 192kHz sample rate 24-bit, full duplex, audio codecs for use in consumer applications. The STAC9460/62 incorporate Sigma-Tels proprietary Sigma-Delta technology to achieve normal mode (1Vrms output) DAC SNR of 104 dB. The STAC9460/61/62/63 family all support SigmaTels AudioUltra™ high-performance mode which delivers 107dB SNR and +3dBV output levels. The STAC9460/62 also include built-in 96kHz sample rate 24-Bit professional quality stereo ADCs along with two differential analog inputs for DVD/CROM and dual MIC inputs for Karaoke applications. The STAC9461/63 are six and two-channel 192kHz sample rate 24-Bit DACs that use the same Sigma-Delta technology as the STAC9460/62. All four parts communicate via a standard two-wire serial interface providing simplicity in the audio system design. Packaged in a 28-pin SSOP, the family is completely interchangeable and requires minimal PCB space for implementation. With identical control register organization and communications protocols, the same firmware can be across the family.
The STAC9460/61/62/63 all support variable sample rate 24-Bit D-A conversion, as well as analog processing. Supported DAC sample rates include 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz. The STAC9460/62 incorporate stereo 24-Bit variable sample rate ADCs which provide professional quality record capability from the dual microphone inputs or the differential DVD/CDROM inputs. Supported ADC sample rates include 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, and 96 kHz. Internal Digital Processing provides a number of advance options, such as independent digital volume controls and mute capabilities as well as a Master Volume control to adjust all DAC simultaneously. The output volume control adjustment range is from 0 dB to -95 dB in .75 dB steps. For MIC input, the input volume control adjustment range is from 0 dB to 22.5 dB in 1.5 dB steps. The STAC9460/61/62/63 family also supports a single-line format. The STAC9460/61 were designed primarily to support 6-channel audio. True AC-3 playback can be achieved for 6- speaker applications by taking advantage of the STAC9460/61 architecture and combining it with the appropriate decode processor. This product is ideal for home theatre, DVD, Digital VCRs, karaoke, mini-systems, all-in-one stereo systems, and set-top-box applications.
