The story of Asante Networks started in 1988 with a couple of men, brimming with ideas and technology that could change the world. Focused on a specific untapped service, Asante achieved success through its Ethernet networking solutions, with products such as switches, hubs, and adapter cards. Asante broke even after a mere 18 months and an outlay of only $1 million.
With this humble beginning, Asante went on to become the leading provider of Ethernet networking solutions for Apple Computer. In December 1993, Asante held its initial public offering and was named the 19th fastest growing company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Today, Asante continues to lead the industry toward new horizons. With the emergence of the Internet, Asante has recognized the value of speed. To meet that need, Asante developed products such as cable/DSL routers that let users safely share broadband Internet connections and high-speed Gigabit Ethernet switches and adapters that speed up the transfer of large graphics files for digital design and pre-press operations.
The company is organized along two product lines that focus on different customers networking needs. The FriendlyNET line provides networking solutions for small offices, homes, schools, and pre-press markets. This line consists of award-winning cable/DSL routers, GigaNIX PCI adapters, and USB hubs. The IntraCore product line serves enterprise customers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Its Layer 2 and 3 switches include those for managed workgroups, Gigabit Ethernet, high-capacity fiber optic backbones, and chassis-based multimedia. These systems meet the requirements for multi-service networks that support all applications and data types.
